Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton is usually one of his greatest advantages.
Against his son Daken, though, it stopped being enough.
Daken already had powers very similar to Logan: a healing factor, enhanced senses, claws, and years of combat training. But during Wolverine: Origins, he gained something specifically capable of bypassing Wolverine’s greatest defenses.

Daken Got a Weapon Designed to Hurt Wolverine
The Muramasa Blade was no ordinary sword.
Marvel describes it as a weapon capable of cutting through adamantium and suppressing regenerative healing, making it one of the rare weapons that could permanently injure someone like Wolverine.
After the blade was shattered, Daken recovered a piece and had the Tinkerer bond its material to two of his claws.
That completely changed the matchup.
Wolverine could normally survive almost anything because of his adamantium skeleton and healing factor.
Daken now had claws capable of countering both.
Daken Even Stabbed Wolverine With Them
After receiving the upgrade, Daken immediately proved how dangerous it was.
Marvel’s official history says Daken escaped after stabbing Wolverine with his newly modified claws.
And unlike an ordinary claw wound, damage from Muramasa could interfere with Logan’s healing factor.
For once, Wolverine couldn’t simply rely on healing afterward.
Wolverine Had to Train Specifically to Beat His Own Son
When Logan eventually confronted Daken again in Wolverine: Origins #48, he didn’t simply overpower him.
He had previously trained with Silver Samurai, learning to control his anger and fight more carefully instead of relying on rage.
That preparation mattered.
During their final confrontation, Wolverine eventually defeated Daken, broke his arms, and removed the Muramasa claws from his body so Daken could no longer use them. Marvel’s official history confirms that Logan ultimately stripped his son of the weapons.
So Wolverine technically did win.
But only after specifically preparing for Daken and taking away the one weapon that could bypass nearly everything Weapon X had given him.
That’s what made Daken such a terrifying opponent.
Wolverine’s adamantium made him harder for almost everyone else to kill.
Daken found one of the few weapons that made it almost irrelevant.
