This crazy MCU theory actually got more interesting because of one saying in She-Hulk. In the first episode’s post-credits scene, Hulk finally reveals that Steve Rogers wasn’t a virgin.
According to Bruce, Steve lost his virginity to a woman in 1943, during his USO tour. And that immediately takes us back to Captain America: The First Avenger.
We May Have Already Seen the Woman
During Steve’s USO tour, a young woman approaches him and asks for his autograph. She’s played by Laura Haddock.
That name matters because Haddock later returned to the MCU as Meredith Quill – Star-Lord’s mother in Guardians of the Galaxy. The theory says Haddock wasn’t simply reused as another actress.
What if the woman Steve met in 1943 was actually Meredith Quill’s mother? And what if she was also the unnamed woman Hulk was talking about? If Steve slept with her during that USO tour and she later became pregnant, Meredith could secretly have been Steve Rogers’ daughter.
Which would make Peter Quill… Captain America’s grandson.
But What About Peter’s Actual Grandpa?
This is the biggest problem with the theory. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 reveals that Gregg Henry’s character is Jason Quill, Peter’s grandfather and Meredith’s father. James Gunn even used this fact to shut the Captain America theory down, saying Meredith’s father was already an established character played by Gregg Henry.
But fans found a loophole.
What if Jason was Meredith’s stepfather or the man who raised her, rather than her biological father? In that version of the theory, Steve could still be Meredith’s biological father without Peter ever knowing. There’s no evidence in the MCU confirming that, of course.
But it would solve the biggest contradiction.
And She-Hulk Accidentally Made the Theory Better
The original Star-Lord/Captain America theory existed years before She-Hulk. But She-Hulk added one very specific piece of canon information: Steve really did sleep with someone during the exact USO-tour period when Laura Haddock’s mystery character appears.
That doesn’t prove she was the woman. It doesn’t prove Meredith was Steve’s daughter. And James Gunn has already said the connection wasn’t intended. But if you connect those dots anyway, Peter Quill’s family tree suddenly becomes insane.
His father is Ego, a Celestial.
And his biological grandfather could theoretically be Steve Rogers, Captain America. Star-Lord being half-Celestial was already crazy enough. Imagine finding out the other side of the family came from the first Avenger.
