As noted, Iron Man appears in 10 films within the MCU. Most of these films are set within the same year that they hit theaters.

According to the MCU, Tony Stark was born on May 29th, 1970. This was finally revealed in Stark’s last big-screen appearance, Avengers: Endgame.

Below, we will discuss each of Iron Man’s cinematic appearances and reveal his age in each one.

1. Iron Man

The movie Iron Man came out in 2008, and it is set in the same year.

In this film, Tony Stark is the CEO of Stark Industries. When he is abducted by a terrorist group known as the Ten Rings, they attempt to force him to build a missile for them. Instead, the genius Stark creates a suit of armor that allows him to escape imprisonment.

Following this experience, he vows to use his technological prowess and genius intellect for good and begins fighting crime as Iron Man.

Since this movie is set in the year 2008, Tony Stark is 38 years old.

2. The Incredible Hulk

8. Spider-Man: Homecoming

9. Avengers: Infinity War

10. Avengers: Endgame

The final Avengers movie came out in 2019. Time travel was a major aspect of the premise, so the story itself was set during various other time periods.

“Present day” in the movie is considered to be 2023, though the movie begins in 2018, right after the events of Infinity War.

What’s more, Iron Man and other characters also travel back to various points in history to retrieve the Infinity Stones.

In the climactic battle, Iron Man wields the Infinity Stones to destroy a 2014 version of Thanos and his forces–but he himself dies in the process, due to the radiation produced by the Stones.

This completes Tony Stark’s character arc from a self-absorbed narcissist to a self-sacrificing hero who saves the world.

Because most of the movie, including the final battle, takes place in 2023, Iron Man is 53 years old for the majority of the film.
