Ebon Moss-Bachrach, known for his roles in The Punisher, Andor, and The Bear, is set to join the Marvel mainstage as The Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
As fans eagerly anticipate his portrayal of Ben Grimm, Moss-Bachrach recently shared some humorous insights into his preparation for the role.
During an appearance on The Daily Show, Moss-Bachrach quipped about his unique training regimen, saying, “I’m playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing, who is a man encased in rock.
So, yeah, I don’t know, I’ve just been looking at rocks.”

This lighthearted comment gave fans a chuckle, imagining the actor spending time studying stones to get into character.
On a more serious note, Moss-Bachrach revealed that he’s been immersing himself in the world of Marvel comics. “I’ve been reading a lot of comics. It’s really nice. They gave me this Marvel Unlimited thing, so I can just go on my iPad and go to any comic book that Marvel’s ever released,” he shared.
This access to a vast library of Marvel’s comic book history has been a valuable resource for the actor as he prepares to bring The Thing to life.
Unlike the previous portrayal by Michael Chiklis, Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm will be a CGI character. However, he’s expected to do more than just provide the voice.
