“Deadpool becomes the Jesus of the Marvel Universe; Logan now brings the mutants to the outcasts; The chief villain is a gang of powerful mutant variants.”
And there are many details depicting the upcoming story of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Let’s unpack them!

A Brief Through the Context:
Before delving into details and possibly uncovering the plot, we need to gather the official information published by Marvel Studios so far.
First, let’s review Wade Wilson’s last known point: The End Credits Scene of Deadpool 2.
The Deadpool 2 End Credits Scene (2018)
At the end of Deadpool 2, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio fix Cable’s time-travel device, allowing Wade to change past events.
He saves Vanessa and ensures Peter survives the X-Force’s disastrous first mission, where Peter had died from Zeitgeist’s acid spit.
Additionally, Wade humorously “corrects” his past by killing the poorly received version of Deadpool from “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and Ryan Reynolds after he reads the “Green Lantern” script.
The new “Deadpool & Wolverine” teaser released on February 22, brings Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine and connects to past end credits scenes.
In the trailer, Wade Wilson celebrates his birthday with Vanessa, Negasonic, Yukio, Colossus, and other X-Force members, showcasing his mundane life.
Suddenly, the TVA comes and recruits him for a mission, and through quick montages, Wolverine’s presence is subtly revealed.
The Official Trailer (April 2024)
The Official Trailer, released on April 22, starts with Wolverine at a bar, approached by Deadpool, interspersed with Logan’s throwback moments.
Their conversation ends with Wolverine in his comic costume, clashing with Deadpool, followed by the iconic line: “Go f*ck yourself.”
The sequence escalates to them fighting Minutemen, captured in montage format, and concludes as Wolverine and Deadpool leap through a magical portal, similar to Doctor Strange’s.
And the trailer ends with the discussion between Blind Al and Wade about **** (already censored by Disney).
Deadpool & Wolverine | Old Bubs (June 2024)
The video was published on June 28, 2024, on Ryan Reynolds’s YouTube channel, briefly highlighting key details from the Official Trailer.
The most notable detail in this video is the confrontation between Wolverine and Sabretooth (the version in the first X-Men movie), as Deadpool exclaimed, “people waited for decades!.”
Break Down the Important Details
That is all the official releases from Marvel Studios. From here, we’ll deep-dive into the remarkable details from both the Teaser and the Trailer.
An Unusual Recruitment of TVA?
In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the TVA’s Minutemen appear less aggressive, politely knocking on Wade’s door rather than barging in.
Paradox, a TVA agent, recruits Deadpool for a crucial mission, indicating a potential partnership.
This partnership takes a fascinating turn when leaks from CinemaCon reveal that Deadpool now wields an adamantium katana.
The trailer shows Wade pointing a gun at Logan’s head, possibly also loaded with an adamantium bullet.
Further leaks from CinemaCon depict an emotional scene where Thor cradles Deadpool’s lifeless body.
Paradox informs Wade of his special destiny and suggests that the multiverse’s sacred timeline might require “some avenging.”
This detail could mark a rising action in the movie.
Deadpool: From Retiree to “Savior” of the Marvel Timelines?
Unlike the God of Mischief, a retired hero (or retired anti-hero) like Deadpool could be easily swayed by Mr. Paradox’s recruiting pitch, even seeing himself as the “Marvel Jesus.”
I’ve discussed the possible mission of Paradox in the following section (attached link). Continue reading to ensure you don’t miss out on any other crucial detail.
While it’s unclear if Wade has caused any trouble yet, it seems Paradox’s plan has failed, leading to intense clashes between Deadpool and the TVA’s Minutemen in subsequent scenes.
These battles occur against a backdrop known as the Void – a space not easily accessible unless erased by the Minutemen or manipulated by the Tem Pad.
Thus, it can be argued that Deadpool might have failed his mission and been relegated to this terminal space, a “trash heap of the Sacred Timelines.”
Which Wolverine Variant Will Appear In This Movie?
Since Hugh Jackman announced his return as Wolverine in “Deadpool 3,” a major question has arisen: How does Wolverine’s arrival fit into the MCU timeline?
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine might appear in “Deadpool 3” as a variant, active between X-Men: Days of Future Past (2023) and just before the events in “Logan” (2029).
His difficulty in extracting his claws (like in “Logan”) in the Official Trailer suggests this. (And of course, pretty hard to make Hugh Jack back to his younger looks in the 2000s)
Besides, the year 2023 is pivotal, aligning with significant MCU events like the end of the blip in “Avengers: Endgame.”
Cosmic events may facilitate the X-Men’s introduction to the MCU, allowing Wolverine’s narrative to remain flexible across different timelines.
Excitingly, “Deadpool 3” can draw from any Wolverine moment post-1981, preserving the authenticity of “Logan” while integrating him into the MCU’s multiverse narrative.
The X-Men Villains Gathering in the Void(?)
Hinted at by brief moments in the teaser, the Official Trailer confirmed that Deadpool will encounter several iconic MUTANTS, likely in The Void.
The Void is depicted as a desolate wasteland where erased or pruned characters from various universes might end up, specifically from 21st Century Fox’s X-Men series:
Azazel, the teleporting mutant first seen in ‘X-Men: First Class,’ was reported dead before ‘Days of Future Past.’ Could he have been sent to the Void instead?
Lady Deathstrike, a product of the Weapon X project with powers similar to Wolverine’s, fought him in ‘X2’ and seemed to perish. Might her presence in the Void suggest an alternate version, or did she survive and get sent there?
Sabretooth, rumored to be different from Liev Schreiber’s portrayal in ‘X-Men: Origins,’ might appear in a version resembling the hairier Tyler Mane from the first ‘X-Men.’ Could this indicate Sabretooth from another universe?
Toad, Magneto’s amphibian lackey from the first ‘X-Men’ film, was thought to have died after Storm’s iconic lightning strike, but perhaps he was merely discarded with other Fox mutants in the Void?
Pyro, seen last battling Iceman in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand,’ reappears in the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ as hinted in the Official Teaser and confirmed in the Trailer.
It remains uncertain if these are the versions from the previous Fox X-Men films or if they are variants now stranded in the Void.
However, it is clear that they likely play crucial roles in the villain side: Cassandra Nova’s apocalyptic lair, significantly impacting the film’s conflict dynamics.
But… Who is Cassandra Nova?
The Chief Villain Is Cassandra Nova?
In the Official Teaser, a slightly blurred character briefly appears, sparking numerous rumors about Cassandra Nova as the villain.
As expected, the Official Trailer recently confirmed Cassandra Nova, portrayed by Emma Corrin, as the chief villain of the movie.
Who is Cassandra Nova in the Marvel Universe? Cassandra Nova first appeared in 2001’s New X-Men #114, introduced as the evil twin of Professor Charles Xavier.
Her background is complex, but you can explore the relationship between Charles Xavier and Cassandra Nova here.
Regarding her abilities, in short: Charles Xavier’s Ability + Decisive Cruelty + More Telekinesis. The Official Trailer showcases how effortlessly she controls Wolverine.
So, does this formidable character have any weaknesses?
In Marvel Comics, Cassandra Nova is just as susceptible to telepathic manipulation as anyone else. But do you think either Wade or Logan possesses such abilities?
We’ll likely only get a definitive answer this July.
Deadpool & Wolverine: This Will (Probably) Happen
By collecting all the details above, here’s a plot prediction for the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie:
Deadpool, now growing tired of ordinary life, wishes on his birthday to be Deadpool again.
Suddenly, the TVA intervenes, not to accuse him but to recruit him for a mission to protect the Sacred Timelines—possibly against Cassandra Nova.
Because she’s too powerful to be arrested, she’s sent to the Void, where she can’t impact the Sacred Timelines, though concerns about her return linger.
Deadpool needs help: enter Wolverine, who’s only stable when Xavier’s Alzheimer’s doesn’t flare up – suggesting he could be chosen to resist such extreme telepathic powers.
Recruiting Wolverine is tough; post-‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, he’s disillusioned, having potentially caused an incursion by traveling back to 1973.
This did prevent the Sentinel invasion; however, it also led to a dystopian outcome similar to that in ‘Logan’ (2019), where mutants coexist with humans but face discrimination and a declining birth rate among mutants.
As Paradox puts it, “this Wolverine let down his entire world.”
Skip forward to post-battling Cassandra Nova, they might escape through a portal created by a sling ring, possibly a cameo by Wong or Doctor Strange.
This event could set the stage for integrating Deadpool and Wolverine into the MCU as seen in ‘Shang-Chi’.
As ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ unfolds in MCU Phase 6, their integration and the magical portal cameo are pivotal for setting up ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
This is somehow confirmed by dialogue in exclusive CinemaCon footage, said by Wade: “So I heard Secret Wars is finally gonna be introduced.”
