Kang The Conqueror Killed Captain America, Not Thor

Kang The Conqueror Killed Captain America, Not Thor

I’ve noticed that when responding to who Kang referred to as ‘the one with the hammer,’ many people now believe it was Captain America rather than the God of Thunder.

Today, we’re going to break down the evidence supporting this theory. Then, you can decide whether to take it or leave it.

Let’s get started!

Confusion Over “The One with the Hammer”

In the MCU, Mjolnir is synonymous with Thor’s iconic weaponry, but it’s easy to forget that both Thor and Captain America have wielded the iconic hammer.

This overlap stirs confusion; when Kang the Conqueror mentions “the one with the hammer,” it’s unclear whom he’s actually referring to.

There’s speculation that Kang might confuse Captain America for another Avenger due to this shared privilege of wielding the hammer.

This scenario provides a crucial clue, suggesting that Kang’s faulty memory of “the one with the hammer” could be misdirected at Captain America, stemming from this very confusion.

The Quantum Suit And Ant-Man Suit

An essential item synonymous with the Avengers is the Advanced Tech Suit, or Quantum Suit, which complicates the identification of individuals.

This ambiguity adds confusion; Captain America’s Quantum suit and Ant-Man’s original suit appear similar in design, especially when helmeted, making them hard to tell apart at first glance.

Such similarity could potentially lead Kang to mistake Captain America for Ant-Man during critical encounters in the Quantum Realm.

If Kang believes he’s confronting a different hero, this misidentification could trigger unintended consequences, mistakenly targeting Captain America in a high-stakes mix-up.

Quantum Realm Encounter

Another variation that could support this theory is that both Kang and Captain America travel through the Quantum Realm, where battles could occur without causing any incursions.

Captain America’s venture into the Quantum Realm to return the Infinity Stones, with Mjolnir in hand, might trigger such a battle. His journey places him directly in Kang’s crosshairs.

Kang, known for ruling an entire city of biorobots in “Ant-Man 3: Quantumania,” is capable of monitoring such timeline-altering activities.

The theory suggests that during this perilous mission, Captain America encounters Kang, leading to a consequential confrontation.

But how could he escape? An explanation might be that, while dominated and perhaps defeated by Kang, Steve still had his Quantum Suit for time-traveling.

A detail that could validate this explanation is the nature of Kang’s remark: It wasn’t a victory statement, but merely an inquiry.

However, It Is Just A Theory

While the theory suggests Captain America and Kang had a significant encounter in the Quantum Realm, there are some gaps in this narrative.

Kang’s remark, “They all blow together after a while,” suggests his memory of the Avengers is blended across various timelines (not just the main 616-Earth), thereby challenging the theory of a Quantum Realm encounter.

Additionally, if Captain America were involved in a life-or-death battle against Kang (given Cap’s never giving up his opponent, as he can “do this all day”), it would likely prevent his happy ending with Peggy.

Another point to consider is Kang’s ability to communicate across his variants, meaning: this Kang The Quantum Realm didn’t personally confront “the one with the hammer.”

Instead, he might have relayed information about the encounter to Scott Lang indirectly. This adds another layer of complexity and potential doubt to the theory.
