Why Venom Hates Spider-Man So Much?

Why Venom Hates Spider-Man So Much?

In the Marvel Universe, Venom stands out as one of Spider-Man’s most intriguing and formidable foes.

Unlike other villains who may simply crave power or wealth, Venom’s animosity towards Spider-Man is deeply personal and complex.

This unique dynamic between the alien symbiote and its human host, Eddie Brock, against Spider-Man, is not just about battles and brawn.

It’s a rich story of rejection, betrayal, and a quest for revenge that has captivated fans for decades.

The Origins of Hatred

In the ‘Venom 2’ post-credits scene, Venom reveals to Eddie Brock that symbiotes are linked by a multiversal hive mind, allowing them to share knowledge, such as the identity of Peter Parker/Spider-Man from Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 3.’

This shared knowledge is crucial because Doctor Strange’s spell targets individuals when they learn Peter’s secret, which is why Eddie is pulled into the MCU.

Consequently, the shared memories across the hive mind could explain the inherent hatred the MCU’s Venom might have towards Peter.

Going back to the movie ‘Spider-Man 3 (2007)’, the seed of Venom’s hatred was planted when the alien symbiote first bonded with Peter Parker, Spider-Man’s alter ego.

Initially, this partnership was beneficial, granting Peter enhanced powers and a slick new black suit.

However, when Peter discovered the symbiote’s true nature and its intention to permanently bond with him, he rejected it, using the sound of church bells to painfully sever their connection.

This rejection left the symbiote feeling betrayed and embittered, creating a deep-seated hatred for Spider-Man.

Eddie Brock’s own vendetta against Spider-Man adds another layer to this complex relationship.

Brock, a journalist, saw his career crumble after Spider-Man debunked a major story he had written, leading to public humiliation and the loss of his job.

This personal downfall, directly tied to Spider-Man, morphed into an intense grudge against the superhero.

The Bond of Vengeance

When the alien symbiote found Eddie Brock, their mutual loathing for Spider-Man became the perfect foundation for their bond.

The symbiote shared its powers and knowledge of Spider-Man with Brock, while Brock’s intense emotions fueled the symbiote’s hatred even further.

Together, they became Venom, a being with a singular purpose: to seek revenge against Spider-Man.

This shared goal and the feelings of personal betrayal towards Spider-Man are what make Venom not just an enemy, but a nemesis with a personal vendetta.

Jealousy and Rivalry

Jealousy plays a significant role in Venom’s hatred for Spider-Man.

The symbiote, having once been bonded with Peter Parker, knows intimately the powers and potential of Spider-Man.

This knowledge has fostered a sense of rivalry, with Venom constantly seeking to prove its superiority over Spider-Man.

It’s not merely a battle between good and evil but a deep-seated feud filled with emotional depth.

This dynamic has made the Venom-Spider-Man rivalry one of the most compelling narratives in the Marvel Universe.
