The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has given us some of the most iconic and beloved heroes. They save the world, protect the innocent, and stand as beacons of hope.
Yet, even the mightiest heroes have their dark moments. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most questionable actions taken by our favorite Avengers, reminding us that even heroes can have flaws.
Iron Man
The worst thing: Being a warmongering arms dealer who cared only about riches until a life-threatening kidnapping by those terrorists using “Stark Industries” weapons turned his worldview around.
Other notable missteps:
- Creating Ultron, inadvertently causing Quicksilver’s death.
- Entrusting (Peter Parker) with killer drones and dragging him into superhero conflicts when he’s just a teenager.
- Struggling with alcoholism (worse issue in the comics).
- Trying to kill Bucky and igniting the Civil War, despite Bucky being manipulated. Hence, the famous “I don’t care” quote.
Captain America
The worst thing: Concealing the truth about Tony’s parents’ deaths, and being a bad communicator that leads to the Civil War.
Besides, another very bad thing our beloved Captain has done is to break his own “language policy” by swearing on a few occasions, betraying fans with his unexpected choice of words.
Thor
The worst thing: Being war-attempted, nearly restarting a war with the Frost Giants by ending the lives of many innocent giants, jeopardizing countless lives in a brash quest for glory.
Thor’s other questionable actions:
- Turning a feast into chaos by flipping a table of delicious food.
- Not aiming for Thanos’s head initially, a decision that had dire consequences for the universe. Despite being a meme later on social media, many comments state that it’s because of his arrogance that wants his enemy to be slowly tortured.
Black Widow
The worst thing: Her past as a KGB assassin involved several dark operations, including one that endangered (an) innocent child(ren).
Black Widow’s past is partly revealed through a deleted scene in which Pierce says: “If you do this, none of your past is gonna remain hidden. Not Budapest, not Osaka, not the children’s war.”
Natasha once got Dreykovs’s daughter involved in the plan to shut down the Red Room program.
Besides, other bad things she has done are:
- Not checking in on Yelena or other Black Widows’ freedom after having defected from the Red Room, either not verifying the Red Room’s dismantlement.
- Nearly hit Captain America with a peanut butter sandwich. Imagine if Cap had a peanut allergy!
