This unexpected rumor comes from @rejectedscooper on X, stirring the Marvel fanbase.
While Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa was confirmed to have passed away in the MCU, theories suggest a version of the character could appear in the 2027 film Avengers: Secret Wars.
This movie is already set to be monumental, with plans to bring together numerous characters from past Marvel movies alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to battle Kang the Conqueror and Doctor Doom.
Could the Rumors Be Wrong? And T’Challa’s Potential Return in Secret Wars
Despite the rumor, there are strong arguments against the idea of recasting T’Challa. Marvel Studios has made efforts to honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy thoughtfully.
Instead of recasting, the post-credit scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Nakia and T’Challa’s son, young T’Challa (Touissant), hinting at a different direction.
This young T’Challa could grow into the Black Panther role, providing a way for the character’s legacy to continue without recasting.
Additionally, the comic storyline of Secret Wars involves alternate versions of characters from various universes.
This opens up the possibility of introducing a T’Challa Variant from another universe, allowing for the presence of the Black Panther without replacing Boseman’s portrayal.
On the other hand, in Marvel Comics, the Secret Wars storyline features countless variants of Marvel’s biggest names fighting to stop a Multiversal takeover.
This could bring together heroes and villains from different universes, including another universe’s T’Challa.
The rumor about recasting T’Challa after Secret Wars may be premature, as Marvel Studios could reintroduce the character in the film itself.
This would provide a seamless transition and keep the legacy of Black Panther alive in the MCU.
