I get it, Vision seems like a powerhouse with all his incredible abilities, but don’t be fooled.
Some Avengers have the skills and strength to put him in his place. This article is going to break things down and explore the heroes capable of taking down Vision!

Overview of Vision’s Powers
Vision, a synthezoid created from Vibranium, is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
His origins trace back to Ultron and Dr. Helen Cho, with Tony Stark and Bruce Banner later uploading J.A.R.V.I.S.’s remnants into Vision’s body.
Given life by the Mind Stone, Vision possesses an array of formidable abilities.
Vision’s powers include superhuman strength, durability, speed, and agility. His Vibranium composition allows him to withstand significant force, making him nearly indestructible.
Vision can also manipulate his density, enabling him to phase through objects or increase his mass to become nearly invulnerable.
This density manipulation lets him phase through walls and even opponents, giving him a unique advantage in combat.
In addition to his physical attributes, Vision can fly and fire powerful energy blasts from the Mind Stone embedded in his forehead.
These blasts are capable of slicing through objects and inflicting severe damage on his enemies.
Vision’s intellectual capabilities are also enhanced, allowing him to interface with computers and other technology seamlessly.
Misconceptions About Vision’s Weakness
Vision is often perceived as weak due to some notable defeats in the MCU, but these perceptions can be misleading when the context of these battles is considered.
For example, in “Avengers: Infinity War,” Vision is ambushed by Corvus Glaive early on, severely injuring him.
This strategic disadvantage is not a reflection of Vision’s inherent weakness but rather the result of a well-executed surprise attack.
Vision’s death at the hands of Thanos is another point that fuels the misconception of his weakness.
It’s essential to remember that Thanos, wielding the nearly complete Infinity Gauntlet, is an overwhelmingly powerful adversary.
Thanos uses the Time Stone to reverse Wanda Maximoff’s destruction of the Mind Stone, revives Vision, and then immediately rips the Mind Stone from his forehead.
That means Vision has no chance to defend himself, especially in such a sudden resurrection moment.
This scenario is less about Vision’s lack of strength and more about Thanos’ sheer, unmatched power at that moment.
Moreover, Vision hadn’t gained much fighting experience since his creation in Age of Ultron. Essentially, he was newly born and too inexperienced for such a high-stakes battle.
Without all his potential power being exploited, he seems so weak, but that’s not true.
Ultron was a formidable opponent for the Avengers, proving to be a significant challenge during their battle. Quicksilver even lost his life in the fight against Ultron.
In the “What If…?” series, Ultron, in Vision’s body with the Mind Stone, becomes an even bigger threat, capable of slicing Thanos in half despite the Mad Titan having five Infinity Stones.
This version of Ultron demonstrates his potential as one of the most dangerous beings in the multiverse.
But we’re focusing on the Earth-616 universe. Therefore, we’ll deeply analyze Vision with his untapped potential.
That’s why we can agree that any Avenger who could have any chance to defeat Thanos in a solo could definitely take down Vision.
These Avengers Could Defeat Thanos (& Vision)
Iron Man – 60%
Tony Stark, the big man in the armor suit, might knock down the Mad Titan and make him kneel. The specialty of this character lies in his intelligence (and his pocket).
His intelligence is showcased in the way he uses momentum-based attacks to hit Thanos hard with his Nano Suit.
While you might think Iron Man mainly relies on his weaponry for firepower, the design of his suit actually enhances each attack mechanically, leveraging thrust engines to amplify force.
In his Nano Armor, despite its minimalist and agile design, the nanotech allows for explosive thrust force, powering up his physical attacks.
In one scene, Iron Man skillfully integrates martial arts techniques with precise, high-speed strikes to challenge Thanos physically.
However, while the Nano Armor can boost every single attack, not all attacks are strong enough to make Thanos dizzy. With that said, Thanos quickly regained control and made Tony kneel for revenge.
So, it seems like the chance for Tony to defeat Thanos is about 60%, not very high when compared to the other Avengers, but still, to defeat Vision, Iron Man is enough.
Captain America – 80%
Another sub-human Avenger is Captain America. Even though his on-screen time struggling against Thanos isn’t extensive, Thanos’s facial expressions suggest further details.
Unlike Tony Stark, Captain America specializes in martial arts and is a true tactical expert. Additionally, he possesses superhuman strength from the Super Soldier Serum.
While his strength isn’t as remarkable as the Hulk’s, Steve Rogers could still surprise Thanos and stop his moves temporarily.
Combining his tactical skills, he caused some trouble for Thanos during the initial stage of the Battle of Earth.
However, even wielding the Vibranium shield and Mjolnir, Cap was still outmatched by Thanos.
Despite this, considering all the damage he inflicted and his capabilities, the chance for Steve Rogers to defeat Thanos is about 80%, which means he would absolutely win Vision in a solo.
Doctor Strange – 90%
The supreme sorcerer, Doctor Strange, is a promising candidate for holding back Thanos due to his mastery of magic.
Doctor Strange possesses an extremely high level of expertise in magic, making him the most powerful member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts.
Doctor Strange’s magic is a powerful force to counter Thanos from a tactical perspective.
With long-range Eldritch Magic and concentrated energy blasts, he managed to tackle Thanos temporarily.
Additionally, his astral projection confused the Mad Titan until Thanos used the Soul Stone to detect and grab the Sorcerer.
From these details, it’s clear that although Doctor Strange can use his magic intelligently to dominate Thanos, it isn’t strong enough to inflict lethal damage on the Mad Titan.
Therefore, the chance for Strange to defeat Thanos is around 90%.
Captain Marvel – 95%
A standout member of the Avengers, Carol Danvers, or Captain Marvel, seems to be the one who can truly overpower Thanos, despite having the least on-screen time facing him.
Captain Marvel has a unique hybrid physiology. She acquired the ability to produce cosmic energies to no measurable bounds from the core Light-Speed Engine.
Additionally, after a blood transfusion with a Kree warrior, she gained superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes, essentially turning her into a Kree-Human hybrid.
With these cosmic attributes, it’s needless to say that her power is on a universal level, comparable to or even beyond that of Thanos.
In her showdown in Endgame, she quickly tackled the Mad Titan and put him on the defensive.
Everything was going well until Thanos detached the Power Stone to punch her away. Nevertheless, in a pure battle, Danvers could quickly rebound and keep fighting.
Given the details above, the chance for Carol Danvers to defeat Thanos is 95%.
Thor – Absolute Dominated
“Don’t you just say Thor was knocked out in the previous section, do you!?” Although Thanos once defeated Thor, focusing only on this event would miss the broader context.
The initial encounter on the Asgardian spaceship doesn’t fully capture Thor’s might as the Thunder God.
While Thor’s raw strength may fall slightly short of Hulk’s—as evidenced by his ability to crush Iron Man’s gauntlet with over three million pounds of force compared to Hulk’s heavier footprint—his true power lies in his thunder abilities and the Stormbreaker.
This legendary axe significantly enhances Thor’s combat effectiveness.
The pivotal moment comes when Thor combines his strength, thunder power, and the mighty Stormbreaker.
In a dramatic scene, Thor descends from above, gaining momentum and trapping Thanos in a confined space, making it the perfect strike zone.
Thor’s tactical throw of the Stormbreaker, backed by his augmented power, forces Thanos to his knees.
Physically speaking, Thanos kneeling down in this scene is purely logic, momentum-based, and with a little help from the new weapon.
But sadly, if he had gone for the head, things would have been different.
Wanda Maximoff – Absolute Dominated
Last but certainly not least, the one who can definitively dominate Thanos in battle is Wanda Maximoff. Arguably, she is also the strongest Avenger in the Infinity Saga.
But why did she fail to stop Thanos in Infinity War? The answer is that she was distracted and not ready for combat.
During the Battle of Wakanda, Wanda was focused on protecting Vision while Shuri attempted to detach the Mind Stone.
From a tactical perspective, Wanda’s telekinesis could easily give her an advantage over Thanos.
Despite the mystery surrounding her maximum capabilities in the MCU, one significant moment in “Avengers: Endgame” highlights her power.
When she confronts Thanos and says, “You took everything from me,” it becomes a serious trigger for her abilities.
Indeed, in the Battle of Earth, she single-handedly takes on the 2014 version of Thanos, arguably his strongest form, forcing him to sacrifice his troops by commanding them to open fire.
Another moment that showcases her abilities is when she breaks Thanos’s double-edged sword, forged from Uru, a metal as strong as Vibranium.
With her powerful telekinesis and far-range attacks, Wanda makes Thanos’s defeat seem inevitable in this case.
So, those are all the Avengers that I think could 100% defeat Vision.
