As one of the youngest superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU’s) Infinity Saga, Spider-Man (Peter Parker) became a fan favorite.
However, many people wondered about his standing with the Avengers. Is he an official member of the team? Or does he fight alongside the Avengers when the need arises?
Spider-Man is generally not considered an official Avenger, and he once turned down an offer to join them. Later, before the Battle of Titan, Tony Stark told Spider-Man “You’re an Avenger now,” but it’s unclear whether this was an official induction into the team.

Is Spider-Man Officially an Avenger?
Spider-Man has a complicated relationship with the Avengers. Let’s talk about whether he qualifies as an “official” Avenger in the MCU and the comics.
In The MCU
In the MCU movies, we see Spider-Man fighting alongside the Avengers several times.
Initially, Tony Stark recruits the 14-year-old superhero during the Avengers’ civil war. But we know he doesn’t become an official Avenger at this time.
Several months after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker struggles to balance school and life with crime-fighting, as he becomes obsessed with receiving an official invitation to join the Avengers.
However, when this invitation comes at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Parker turns it down.
A year and a half later, when Thanos begins wreaking havoc in New York, Parker again seeks out the Avengers to find out what’s going on. He teams up with them once again in their fight to prevent Thanos from obtaining the Infinity Stones.
Before the Battle of Titan, Stark even makes the motion of “knighting” Parker and says “Kid, you’re an Avenger now.”
But does this amount to an “official” induction into the Avengers?
The simple answer is, no one knows for sure.
Some fans contend that Spider-Man is an official Avenger, or that he was for a short time before he disintegrated during Thanos’ Blip.
It’s unclear whether he was still considered an Avenger after he was resurrected in Avengers: Endgame.
He fought alongside the Avengers in the Battle of Earth, but so did many other Marvel characters not associated with the Avengers.
Following the Battle of Earth, Spider-Man continued to have relations with S.H.I.E.L.D., but these relations weren’t clearly identified in Far from Home or No Way Home.
From all appearances, it seems Spider-Man still works alone, though he will team up with the Avengers from time to time, and they are quick to come to his aid.
So, you might say that Spider-Man and the Avengers are close allies; but Spider-Man may or may not be considered an official member of the Avengers.
In The Comics
Spider-Man seems to have a more official affiliation with the Avengers in the comics, though this hasn’t always been the case.
Since the character’s creation, he often fought alongside the Avengers without being an “official” member. There were times he tried to become an Avenger but was turned away, like in The Avengers Vol. 1 #11.
In other comics, including The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3, he is invited to join the Avengers, but leaves over disagreements.
In recent comics, his inclusion in the team has taken on a more official appearance.
He became a charter member of the New Avengers when the comic of the same name launched in 2005. Though his relationship with the New Avengers was rocky, things got better, as seen in The Avengers “Heroic Age” storyline.
Here, Spider-Man is not only a member of the New Avengers, but he also becomes a member of the original team led by Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.
So yes, Spider-Man is an official member of the Avengers in the comics. We may see his story follow a similar path in the MCU as more movies are released.
Is Spider-Man in Avengers: Endgame?
As mentioned above, Spider-Man becomes a victim of the Blip shortly after Tony Stark makes him an Avenger. This happens in Avengers: Infinity War.
However, in Avengers: Endgame, the surviving members of the Avengers undo the Blip. In other words, Spider-Man and everyone else who perished in the Blip were brought back to life.
Shortly after, Spider-Man and other resurrected heroes joined the fight in the climactic Battle of Earth, which led to Thanos’ defeat (though at the expense of Tony Stark’s life).
So yes, Spider-Man was in Endgame, despite dying in Infinity War.
Conclusion
In the MCU, Spider-Man worked closely with the Avengers on several occasions and Tony Stark once told him, “You’re an Avenger now.” However, it’s unclear whether this amounts to an official induction into the team.
In the comics, Spider-Man had a rocky relationship with the Avengers for many years before finally becoming an official member of both the original and New Avengers.
