Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, appeared in six Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies to date. The youngest of the Avengers, Parker was born on August 10, 2001.
With this in mind, you may wonder how old the character is in each of his MCU appearances. The answer is not as straightforward as you might expect.
Peter Parker was 14 years old when he first fought alongside Tony Stark’s faction of the Avengers. After dying in the Blip at age 16, he came back to life five years later–but was still 16. He is 16 and 17 years old in his two most recent films, even though they take place 23 years after his birth.

1. Captain America: Civil War
Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man debuts in Captain America: Civil War, when Tony Stark recruits the young superhero to fight alongside his group in the Avengers’ civil war.
He receives a high-tech “Iron Spider” suit created by Stark and shows impressive moves against the likes of Captain America and other more seasoned Avengers. In the end, though, his youth and inexperience often gets the better of him.
This movie was released in May 2016 and takes place in the present day. Since he was born in August of 2001, Peter Parker is 14 years old during the events of Civil War.
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place a few months after Civil War as Peter Parker becomes obsessed with proving his worth to Stark. His goal is to become the next member of the Avengers.
However, his crime fighting exploits lead to Iron Man bailing him out more than once, and Stark takes the suit back. Finally, at his homecoming dance, he manages to stop the film’s main antagonist, Vulture, re-earning Tony Stark’s respect.
Homecoming was released in July 2017, but the events of the film take place nearly a year before that–in the fall of 2016. At this time, Parker was 15 years old.
3. Avengers: Infinity War
After turning down Tony Stark’s invitation to join the Avengers, Peter Parker is drawn into a much bigger conflict as the Mad Titan, Thanos, attempts to assemble the Infinity Stones.
Spider-Man joins Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy to oppose Thanos in the Battle of Titan. However, Thanos escapes, retrieves the Time Stone, and goes to Earth, where he pries the final stone (the Mind Stone) from Vision’s head.
With the Infinity Gauntlet complete, Thanos snaps half the universe into oblivion. Spider-Man is among those to disintegrate in the event which came to be known as the Blip.
Infinity War was released in April 2018 and the events of the film took place in the present day. Since it was before his birthday in August, Parker was 16 years old when he died in the Blip.
4. Avengers: Endgame
This is where things get interesting. Five years after the Blip, the surviving Avengers find a way to travel back in time, retrieve the Infinity Stones, and bring back those who died when Thanos snapped them out of existence.
Of course, Spider-Man was among those brought back to life, and he joined the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other allies in the climactic Battle of Earth.
In this battle, Tony Stark snatched back the stolen Infinity Stones from Thanos and snapped him and his minions out of existence. Unfortunately, he could not withstand the radiation from the stones and died minutes later.
Endgame was released in April 2019 and took place in several different timelines. However, “present day” in the film was the spring of 2023.
Peter Parker would have been 21 at this time had his life not been interrupted by the Blip. Thanks to the Blip, however, he was still the same age in 2023 as he had been when he disintegrated in 2018; therefore, he was still 16.
5. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Spider-Man: Far From Home explores Peter Parker in the wake of Endgame as he tries to get back to normal life. Having returned to high school, he takes part in a class trip to Europe, where he meets the villain Mysterio masquerading as a hero from the Multiverse.
During the movie, Parker’s friend MJ discovers that he is Spider-Man shortly before Mysterio reveals this secret identity to the world. Furthermore, he manages to posthumously frame Spider-Man for his own death.
Released in 2019, Far From Home was initially said to begin “minutes” after Endgame. However, it actually appears to take place more than a year later, in the summer of 2024.
Parker’s birthday, August 10, probably took place at some point during the events of the film. Without the Blip, he would have turned 23 during the movie; but because of the Blip, he turned 17 instead.
6. Spider-Man: No Way Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home immediately follows the events of Far From Home as Parker deals with the fallout of his identity being revealed to the world.
He enlists Doctor Strange to make everyone forget about his secret identity; however, the spell goes haywire and results in several new villains finding their way to Earth from the Multiverse.
This is the most recent Spider-Man movie at the time of this writing. The film was released in July 2021, but it takes place during the fall and winter of 2024.
Without the Blip, Parker would have been 23 at this time. Because of the Blip, he was 17 years old.
