The Incredible Hulk originated in the 1960s. We know this long-standing Marvel character for his size and strength.
Given his impressive power, we might think that the Hulk cannot jump so high. Yet, this would be a mistake. The Hulk can jump high and at a great speed too.
How can the Hulk jump so high? It mainly comes down to his super-strength.

How Strong Is the Hulk?
The Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962 as an offshoot of the Thing. Ever since the first comic series, the Hulk has had incredible strength.
With Bruce Banner’s exposure to gamma radiation, the Hulk’s power could emerge, and the Hulk’s powers increase with his rage.
As perhaps the strongest Avenger–Thor could be stronger–the Hulk has lifted a mountain that weighs more than 150 tons in the comics. In another issue, the Hulk supports the weight of a star.
Some fans contend that the Hulk is even stronger than Thor. That could make sense, given that the Hulk’s exact strength is virtually unlimited.
As other posts have stressed, the Hulk’s strength does not have a defined upper limit. Articles about the Hulk further support the premise of no upper limit strength for the Hulk.
The Hulk’s super-strength helps him jump.
The Hulk’s Strength and Jumping So High
If the Hulk can lift a mountain, a star, or basically anything, then that level of strength explains how he can jump so high.
As fans have stated, the Hulk can jump so high (and far) because of the strength of his legs. Like the rest of him, his legs have unlimited super-strength, which explains his super jumps.
Others have commented on how far the Hulk can jump because of his strength. In the comics, he can attain escape velocity from the Earth to jump into space, albeit briefly.
In the MCU, the Hulk has been shown to jump vast distances, but in the comics, the Hulk can jump into the upper atmosphere/lower space for a while.
As this science video has pointed out, the Hulk can produce enough positive energy to achieve the escape velocity to jump even farther into space.
Given that range, the Hulk could even jump to the moon.
Another scientific review of the Hulk’s jumping concluded that he would break the concrete beneath him with the force of his jump.
From jumping into space to landing with enough force to smash the ground, the Hulk’s leg strength determines his jumping ability.
Can the Hulk Jump From Planet to Planet?
The Hulk can jump across continents and oceans, and he has leaped into space. Can he go across planets?
In the comics, the Hulk has broken apart a planet and held another one together. He has even torn apart reality and punched time. Yet, he has not jumped from planet to planet.
The Hulk is launched into space and becomes Planet Hulk on Sakaar, but we do not see him planet-leaping.
That does not mean he couldn’t do it, though. Given his strength, this feat seems within his reach.
How Fast Can the Hulk Jump?
The Hulk can jump far, but does he jump quickly? Despite his huge size, he does.
To get a sense of how fast he can jump, let’s refer to the Hulk’s running speed. At his base level, he runs at about 300 miles per hour. Yet, as with his strength, once he gets angrier, the Hulk does not seem to have an upper-speed limit.
Since the Hulk breaks the ground beneath him as he runs, he tends to jump more and draw on that running speed to make his leaps.
One estimate states that Hulk’s initial velocity when jumping is 1,000 feet per second or about 682 mph. This seems like a good estimate based on his ground speed, but he could be even faster.
As the Hulk Wiki site has pointed out, the Hulk runs at “eye-blurring speeds” in the comics and can jump 1,000 miles in a single jump. Even if this 1,000-mile jump took 1 hour, which it wouldn’t, that means the Hulk jumps at 1,000 mph.
So, we could push the Hulk’s jumping speed up much beyond 1,000 mph. That means the Hulk jumps fast.
How High Can Thor Jump?
The Hulk is not the only big Marvel character that can jump high and far. Thor also has impressive leaping skills.
In a comparison of the Hulk and Thor’s speed, Thor wins out because he can travel at lightspeed. Following the same logic applied to the Hulk, if Thor can move that fast, he probably can jump that fast and far too.
Given his superhuman strength and speed, and the power granted to him with Mjolnir, Thor could jump at least as high as the Hulk.
Thor is ranked with a strength and speed of 7 on the Marvel Power Grid. That means he is on par with the Hulk for strength, but faster than the Hulk because he moves as fast or faster than light.
Putting those two superpowers together would enable Thor to jump as high as space and beyond. Thor uses Mjolnir to fly in space, so he does not need to jump. But he has the power and speed to do so.
How High Can She-Hulk Jump?
The She-Hulk also has incredible powers that may put her jumping up there with the Hulk.
Jennifer Walters, attorney and cousin of Bruce Banner, transforms into the She-Hulk by way of gamma-infused blood. She thus takes on comparable powers to the Hulk.
She-Hulk is not quite as strong but still has superhuman strength, with an ability to lift over 100 tons. Like the Hulk, the She-Hulk’s leg strength allows her to make tremendous jumps between 600 and 1,000 feet high.
This is not as high as the Hulk but is still impressive. In the comics, She-Hulk is known for jumping up onto aircraft. So, that would press her jumping limits higher.
Appearing first in the comic Savage She-Hulk #1, Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk displayed amazing Hulk powers but maintained more of her human form. She-Hulk does not quite reach the jumping heights of the Hulk but easily transcends human levels.
The Hulk’s Jumping
The Hulk has boundless strength that enables him to jump incredibly far distances, even into space. His leg strength propels him at great speeds over 700 mph.
Other Marvel characters like Thor can jump farther and higher than the Hulk. Yet, the Hulk’s jumping is higher and stronger than She-Hulk’s.
