The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has given us some of the most iconic moments in superhero cinema.
Among these are the unforgettable battles involving the Infinity Stones, cosmic artifacts of immense power.
The Power Stone, in particular, stands out due to its devastating ability to obliterate entire planets.
While even the mighty Captain Marvel met her match against this stone, there are three superheroes who impressively managed to survive its formidable might.
Contents
1. Star-Lord with Celestial Heritage
In the first position, we have Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the gripping climax on Xandar, where Ronan wielded the Power Stone with malicious intent, Star-Lord (Peter Quill) dared to snatch it directly from the warlord’s hammer.
Initially struggling, it was the unity with his fellow Guardians that allowed him to contain its energy.
What truly tipped the scales in his favor, however, was his half-Celestial origin, inherited from his father, Ego.
This celestial lineage endowed Star-Lord with a resilience that enabled him to not only hold the Power Stone but also use its power to defeat Ronan.
2. Iron Man with the Nanotech Shield
Taking the second spot is the ingenious Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man.
In the desolate ruins of Titan, Stark faced off against Thanos, who unleashed a concentrated beam from the Power Stone.
Stark’s survival was attributed to his advanced nanotechnology.
As the Power Stone’s energy attempted to overwhelm him, his nanotech suit adapted in real-time, regenerating its nanoshield to absorb and mitigate the blast’s impact.
Though he lost in the end, the shield was able to defend against the Power Stone’s energy for a while.
This technological prowess showcased how intellect and innovation could stand up to raw cosmic power.
3. Thor – The God of Thunder
At the top of our list is the God of Thunder, Thor. The Asgardian deity faced the Power Stone’s wrath not once, but three times, demonstrating his unparalleled durability.
Initially, Thor endured torture at the hands of Thanos, who used the Power Stone to extract information.
Right after Loki’s demise, Thanos destroyed the airship using the same stone, but Thor emerged unscathed and ready to fight another day.
His most significant feat, however, was during the climactic battle of Wakanda.
Armed with Stormbreaker, Thor charged through the combined force of all six Infinity Stones to land a near-fatal blow on Thanos.
This act was a testament to Thor’s godly resilience and his indomitable will to protect the universe at all costs.
